Planned Giving

We want to give you the opportunity to invest in your Yakima Valley through La Casa Hogar in a way that fits your financial plan. The following are just a few ways that you can ensure that La Casa continues to connect and educate Latina families for years to come.

Remember, your financial adviser and/or personal attorney should be your first point of contact before deciding which of these giving options will work best for you and to answer any questions you may have regarding your IRA, giving appreciated stock or making a bequest to La Casa Hogar.

If you are 70.5 years old and have an IRA and you have a Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) that needs to be taken out yearly from your IRA, you can make a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) directly to La Casa from your IRA in the amount of that RMD. A great benefit to you is that you will be able to exclude that from your RMD for the year from your annual income and therefore not pay taxes on that income. You can gift up to 100,000 a year per person through a QCD.

You can gift appreciated stock to La Casa Hogar directly into our account at the Yakima Community Foundation. When you gift appreciated stock to La Casa you take the amount as a tax charitable deduction for the full fair-market-value of the stock at the time of the gift plus, avoid having to pay any capital gains! La Casa will then take the stock and immediately sell it, receiving the income from that sale.

Do you have a plan for your estate? If not, consider making a charitable bequest to La Casa. A charitable bequest is a gift to charity made at death through a will or trust. You can make a bequest of any size, and direct the gift to support the purpose or program at La Casa that is most important to you. La Casa particularly values unrestricted gifts, which can be used to support priority needs.
