Seeking Volunteers!

We are recruiting committed volunteers to help in our Early Learning Center, Citizenship and Naturalization Services, and Adult Education programs. Training will be provided.
Volunteers play key roles including: tutoring, helping to coordinate events, offering administrative support, and teaching classes!

Citizenship Volunteers

La Casa Hogar is seeking an enthusiastic volunteer to join our naturalization program. This volunteer position is well-suited for an individual looking to build his/her skills in the field of immigration law. The volunteer will conduct screenings once or twice per week during the naturalization education FullSizeRender (11)classes held from 6-8 pm, 2 evenings per week in Yakima. This is a unique skill-building opportunity for anyone who is interested in a career (or retired from a career) working with Spanish-speaking populations and understanding the intricacies of the immigration process. Early Learning Center (“Escuelita”)P1130203


Serves children ages 2-5 who would not otherwise access pre-school education. We incorporate STEM-based education and use the Creative Curriculum. We serve over 50 children per year and 30 parents, primarily mothers, through co-located STEM parent education classes. Classes are held in the mornings.

Adult Education P1120892

La Casa offers classes in Yakima and in Wapato through a partnership with United Way. Students who enter La Casa to pursue education are quickly interwoven with a community of like-minded, pro-active and self-empowered parent-leaders.  Class sizes average around 20 students and in 2015, over 540 adults took classes. Volunteer opportunities are specifically in: Pre-GED Classes and  English as a Second Language and Computer classes.
