3rd Annual Kermes Fiesta
Was a Huge Success
Guests Enjoyed Live Entertainment, Mexican Food, Shopping, New Backpacks and Salsa in the Streets
The Kermes Fiesta was so much fun! Everyone enjoyed themselves.
What a great response from the community who came out to participate in our 3rd annual family
friendly “Kermes Fiesta” de La Casa Hogar! This year we were thrilled to collaborate with The Seasons Performance Hall as they brought back Salsa In The
Streets. What an amazing turnout we had! Thanks
to everyone who came out, we are pleased to announce that our spaces
for Kermes Fiesta 2012 are already filling up! Hope to see you
next year!

3 Students Become Citizens at 9th Annual "Abriendo Caminos"
at Holden Village
On August 11, 2011, 10 candidates
from Mexico were welcomed as new citizens to this great country-the
United States of America.
What started out as just a conversation
turned into something much more. Spring 2010 was the first quarter
we offered the citizenship class. Since then, 33 people have
reached their dream of becoming a US Citizen.
Currently there are 11 students
awaiting a confirmation letter, two students have already
submitted their finger prints and one student has their interview
in October!
A new citizenship class—offered to
both men and women—will begin on October 3. It will be taught at
First Baptist Church: 515 E. Yakima Ave., Yakima. For more information,
call (509) 457-5058.

**NEWS FLASH**
It is not every day that a United States
Senator walks through the doors of La Casa Hogar. We were truly
honored to host Senator Patty Murray for the first time.
Stories were shared of real life struggles of immigrant
families and the concern for their children's
education. No change can happen
overnight but lives can be changed in an instant by words of
encouragement. To view pictures of the tour click here.
