Politicians visit La Casa Hogar for the first time

Senator Curtis King and Representative Norm Johnson joined us for
“Lunch on Us”

Besides sharing a delicious traditional Mexican meal, La Casa staff and participants got a chance to share their story with the Senator and Representative.  They were open, interested and great listeners.  Blanca a former student and now a staff member had this to say “I was surprised how interested the Senator was to know about us and what La Casa Hogar is doing.  It reminded me that I am a part of a great organization that touches the heart of  people...even the politicians.”

If you would like to join us for the next “Lunch on Us” contact Nora @ (509) 457-5058

2009 Fall Quarter begins

128 adult participants and 34 children registered

Fall quarter is usually our slowest time of the year for classes only a few will remain on the waiting list due to space.  A new quarter is always exciting.  Some come from afar and at times feel so alone but find out very quickly that they have a lot in common with there fellow classmates.  “La Casa Hogar feels like a home not a class room, that is why I love it here, I feel safe”, a student comments on her experience.

"107 House" and La Casa Hogar host this yearAnnual Crop Walk

There is still time to pledge for La Casa Hogar online

October 11, 2009 was an exciting day for the Yakima Interfaith Coalition, as many took to the road to help CROP stop hunger. CROP Walks (Communities Responding to Overcome Poverty) raises money through personal pledges and online donations to Church World Service who assists across the globe to feed and assist those who otherwise would go without. This year 25% of the funds raised will stay in Yakima to assist in Emergency Services to the homeless and those without jobs.  Thank you for your support of the CROP Hunger Walk!
