Secretary of Culture for the State of Michoacán
 visits for the first time
Staff share the story and mission
of La Casa Hogar

It is not every day that the Secretary from any state of Mexico walks through the doors.  It was truly an honor to host Secretary Maestro Jaime Hernández Díaz. Carole,  Executive Director, had the pleasure of meeting him and introducing La Casa Hogar when she visited Mexico earlier this month.  His office published a book with 25 stories from women of La Casa. Maestro Jaime Hernández Díaz, his wife and staff enjoyed their visit. They were very interestersted in learning more about the wonderful things La Casa is doing.

“107 House” has Waiting List for Firewood this Winter
Contributions + Community Involvement = Hope

With the arrival of the colder temperatures 107 House has received numerous requests for fire wood to heat homes. Currently we have no wood to offer clients.
We want to give an opportunity to the faith community, family and friends of the organization to support these needs. If you have or know someone who may be interested in providing these or other resources to those in need or who are homeless, we welcome you to contact the office.
A little goes a long way, please contact Darlen Hansen, “107 House” Outreach Specialist(509) 249-6232

Executive Director Joins Latino Leaders in Round Table
Discussion with Senator Patty Murray

The hour long “listening “ session brought the attention of many concerns one of which was the need for immigration reform. Carole talked about the fear she sees in the people.  “The fear is there and never goes away”. Passing immigration reform will be difficult. Murray had this to say “We’ve tried it twice in the Senate in the last three years but you’ve given me good reason to go back and try again.”
