Kermes 2009
What a great response from the community who came out to participate in the first ever “Kermes of La Casa Hogar” a program of Yakima Interfaith Coalition. Close to 300 celebrated with La Casa. The fabulous Kermes guests enjoyed each other, entertainment, and authentic Mexican food prepared by La Casa Hogar’s staff and students. Over a thousand raffle tickets were sold, many seeking a chance to win one of the wonderful prizes donated by local small businesses. About 30 locally owned businesses and area health and educational non-profit agencies set up booths at the Kermes. Although it seemed like it was the hottest day of the year all were in good spirit!
Because of the community support and the countless hours of volunteers and in-kind donation from local businesses it allowed us to reach our goal to build relationships and have a successful event.
To serve, live our passions and make a difference is a gift given to us by the women we serve. Their courage, commitment and dreams inspire us and together, we all make a difference in our community.
