2010 Connecting Communities Fiesta
The 2010 Connecting Communities Fiesta was held on Sunday, May 16th at the fabulous “Mighty Tieton” warehouse. The guests enjoyed each other, entertainment, and the artistry of food! Elizabeth Camacho owner of El Charritos prepared an abundant ray of mouth watering tapas followed by delicious postres prepared by Pepe’s Bakery made lovely center pieces for all to enjoy! They bid on one hundred twelve different items, made by Central and South American and Asian artisans and beautiful works contributed by our very own generous local artists.
Ann Willis honored with the Amor en Acción Award
at La Casa Hogar’s Connecting Communities Fiesta ’10.
Actions of the heart make possible transforming love between people. Yakima Interfaith Coalition La Casa Hogar honors individuals who have been inspired by the people we serve. Through their inspiration, they become one with us and inspire others.
Ann Willis is a wonderful friend of Yakima Interfaith Coalition La Casa Hogar. She was instrumental in our securing sufficient funds that enabled us to purchase our “home”. Her love of community, church and family nurtures our organization.
“Ann along with her husband Bruce active members at Central Lutheran Church, regularly lead Habitat for Humanity delegations to El Salvador inviting numerous individuals from Yakima to accompany them. They are incredible people who care deeply about our community and express it through Amor en Acción, setting a beautiful example for each of us,” Carole Folsom-Hill, Executive Director said.
The board of directors each year recognizes individuals who live out Amor en Acción, in our community, and through that Love in Action have touched the lives of all who are the community at La Casa Hogar Yakima Interfaith Coalition.
Community leaders Rick Pinnell, Bette Taylor and Anne and Steve Caffery are previous recipients of the award.
